Have you ever known exactly how a song goes, but can’t seem to remember where or how you’ve heard that song?  That was the case for me with the classic “Walking on a Dream” by Empire of the Sun. I was reintroduced to this great song by an Instagram reel and I somehow sang along to it. I’ve probably heard the song from a movie in my childhood and hearing it might’ve evoked a memory I forgot about. 

It’s something about electronic music that just calms everything down. In my opinion, the best relaxing songs always ease the listener by introducing the beat for a few seconds then letting the vocals take over.  “Walking on a Dream” is another one of those songs that implements that. This song changes my mood for the better no matter how I’m feeling. It’s one of those songs where if you close your eyes and listen to it, you feel like you’re floating in the clouds at peace; almost like you’re ‘walking on a dream’ (no pun intended). I favor electronic songs that have a  ‘summer sunset drive’ vibe to them. The great thing about “Walking on a Dream” is that the light and groovy beat meshes well with the vocals of the band. Some songs have such distracting beats and other songs the lyrics might not match the beat. However, this song is a perfect union.
