80s and 90s R&B
I’m not sure about you guys, but sometimes personally, I like to look back at the music previous generations were listening to. I want to see where artists now get their inspirations from. As time passes and music evolves, I tend to see each generation bashing the music created in the generations before them. However, honestly a great amount of the songs that were created before I was born are absolute gold. Especially R&B songs from the 80s and 90s. I don’t know what was in the air during those two decades, but it needs to come back. R&B songs now are just not hitting the same.
Sade
When I think of 80s and 90s R&B, Sade is one of the first artists that come to mind. Sade’s soothing voice and soulful songs make her one of the best artists of that era. Sade’s music is always like a breath of fresh air. No matter the type of day you’re having, play Sade’s music and your mood will change for the better. A perfect example of a mood changing song is “Kiss of Life”.
Kiss of Life
“Kiss of Life” sets the tone with a relaxing start. The combination of instruments for the first 20 seconds is a great setup for Sade’s smooth voice to grace the track. Sade sings about falling in love in “Kiss of Life”. With lyrics like,
There must have been an angel by my side
and
I knew you were the one for me
I swear the whole world could feel my heartbeat

there’s a clear message Sade is trying to portray. This is one of those songs that would be great to listen to during a sunset drive. It’s so soothing that it makes you smile and instantly relax. The great thing about Sade is that she has so many other songs with a soothing vibe which makes her such a great artist.
